Is this salary any good?

Enter the pay from an advert. See it in your own money, what it actually buys there, and where it sits against every other English-teaching advert we list for that country.

How this is worked out

In your money uses today's exchange rates (open.er-api.com, updated daily; rates as of Mon, 19 Oct 2026).

What it buys uses the World Bank's purchasing-power conversion factors for household consumption. A salary is turned into "international dollars" at the country's price level, then into what the same basket of goods costs where you are comparing. It is a national average: capital cities cost more.

Adverts in this country is the middle half of stated starting salaries in the live English-teaching adverts tesoly lists for that country, as a monthly figure. Yearly pay is divided by twelve; hourly pay is multiplied by 80 hours, a typical full-time teaching month. It compares the advertised minimum, not what experienced teachers negotiate.

Housing, flights and bonuses are not priced in. Where an advert includes housing, treat the figure as worth a fair bit more; the note below the result says how common that is in the country.
